Singapore · Arrival Chapter
The tropical, frictionless opening
Singapore is a real first chapter, not an airport stop. Four nights create three full days: one for the civic and heritage core, one for gardens and Marina Bay, and one for the city’s planning and manufacturing story. The nonstop from Bengaluru makes it a gentle launch before the regional flight to Taiwan.
- Best base
- Bencoolen, Bras Basah or City Hall. One central hotel gives direct MRT access and lets outdoor mornings alternate with air-conditioned afternoons.
- Arriving
- The preferred nonstop reaches Changi in the evening. Use MRT or a fixed app taxi, eat near the hotel and resist beginning the attraction list.
- Moving on
- Take the morning nonstop to Taipei on Day 5. Reach Changi three hours early and price Scoot with checked baggage before comparing it with full-service fares.
- Expected weather
- Usually 25–33°C, very humid, with hard tropical showers and lightning. Outdoor mornings and indoor midday chapters are the basic rhythm.
- Getting around
- MRT and buses cover almost everything. Use contactless payment or an EZ-Link card; keep a small Grab budget for storms and late returns.
- Vegetarian reality
- Little India and dedicated Buddhist vegetarian restaurants are the safest anchors. At hawker centres, confirm oyster sauce, fish sauce, shrimp paste, lard, stock and egg.
What makes the cut
- Civic District, Singapore River and National Gallery
- Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam as living neighbourhoods
- Botanic Gardens or Cloud Forest during the wettest hours
- Singapore City Gallery plus one public manufacturing visit
Reserve ahead
Gardens conservatories if using a dated ticket and HMGICS public-tour slots when released. Most neighbourhood walks should remain weather-flexible.
